Roger L. Butterwick
President & CEO In his capacity as President & CEO, Roger Butterwick is responsible for the growth and strategic development of the organization. Roger has focused his attention toward building shareholder value through internal growth and external strategic acquisitions. The annual double digit growth experienced by OPENLANE since inception has been achieved in part by Roger's ability to build a dedicated, cohesive and focused management team that produces outstanding results.
Prior to joining OPENLANE, Roger founded and headed Cambridge Management Associates, a consulting organization offering its services to emerging and developing organizations in capital structuring, securing financing and developing and organizing management teams. His prior work experience also includes tenures as Vice President of The Chotin Group Corporation, a private multi-billion dollar capital management and structured finance group specializing in the origination and securitization of mortgage products and other asset-backed securities. From 1974 to 1990 Roger was a founding owner and the senior managing director of Lehman, Butterwick & Company, P.C., a certified public accounting and management consulting firm headquartered in Denver, Colorado. He started his career with the national CPA firm of Deloitte & Touche.
Roger holds a bachelor's degree in science and business administration from the University of Denver. He obtained his CPA from Colorado. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Clive Kinross
Executive Vice President - President, OPENLANE Canada Clive Kinross is responsible for all of OPENLANE's sales and customer management activities. In addition, Clive acts as President of OPENLANE Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company. Clive was a co-founder of Onlane in 2000 and served as President of the company through the merger with ATC. Under his guidance the company became the trusted partner to the used-vehicle industry, providing smart, customized online buying and selling solutions and related logistics and services. Clive has been instrumental in helping the company secure, support and build relationships with many of the leading remarketing organizations in North America.
Prior to Onlane, Clive served as Vice President at Tri Continental Capital, a fund specializing in real estate equity lending across North America. A native of South Africa trained as a Chartered Accountant, Clive spent two years as Vice President at NSA Investments Ltd, then the largest publicly traded private equity fund in South Africa, before moving to Canada.
Peter Kelly
Senior Vice President - Strategic Initiatives Peter Kelly heads up the Strategic Initiatives group within OPENLANE, which includes Strategic Development, Data and Analytics, Marketing, Product Management and Program Implementation. Peter is a co-founder of ATC and served in a number of executive roles, responsible for similar aspects of the business, prior to the merger with Onlane.
Prior to OPENLANE, Peter spent eight years managing engineering, construction and procurement projects for Taylor Woodrow, a U.K.-based construction and development firm. Peter also has management consulting experience through his tenure with McKinsey and Company.
Peter earned a first class honors degree in engineering from University College Dublin and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
Kerry Champion
Vice President - Chief Technology Officer Kerry Champion is vice president and chief technology officer (CTO) for OPENLANE. Kerry is responsible for the software planning, architectural design and overall development efforts across each of the company's online auction sites that serve customers throughout North America.
With more than 24 years of experience working at high-growth companies, Kerry has held a variety of positions ranging from software engineer to founder. In fact, he has helped take several start-ups to the next level through the management of key product introductions, and played an instrumental role in the execution of successful IPOs while serving on the management teams at BroadVision and Tumbleweed Communications.
Prior to joining OPENLANE, Kerry was vice president of engineering for PostPath, a Matrix Partners backed start-up that created high performance messaging solutions running on Linux. Earlier in his career, he was founder and CTO of Westbridge Technology, a provider of extensible markup language (XML) messaging and service-oriented architecture (SOA) solutions.
Kerry holds a bachelor's degree in operations research and quantitative methods from San Francisco State University.
Scott Cross
Vice President - Finance, Corporate Secretary Scott Cross acts as the chief financial officer of OPENLANE and is responsible for the financial integrity of the company including the management of the accounting and human resources departments. Scott joined the company in 2001. Prior to OPENLANE, Scott served as Corporate Controller of Halo Data Devices, Inc., a manufacturer of mini disk drives, from April 1999 to August 2001. Prior to Halo Data Devices, Inc., he served as the Vice President of Finance and Administration for Red Herring Communications, Inc., publisher of "Red Herring" magazine. From February 1994 to September 1996, Scott was Corporate Controller for Mercury Interactive, a software developer, where he helped manage Mercury Interactive's secondary offering and two technology acquisitions. From July 1991 to February 1994, Mr. Cross was a senior staff auditor with Price Waterhouse, LLP, where he helped manage Mercury Interactive's initial public offering.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in commerce and a minor in English from Santa Clara University.
Ed Curry
Vice President of Dealer Sales Ed Curry serves as OPENLANE's vice president of dealer sales and is responsible for overseeing key components of the company's sales organization from inside and field sales to sales training and sales operations.
Mr. Curry joins OPENLANE from Sonic Automotive where he served in numerous senior sales positions from 1999-2007, most recently as the vice president of used car sales, responsible for all the company's used vehicle efforts nationwide. During his eight year tenure at Sonic, Mr. Curry was involved in various aspects of the company's used car sales operations. In addition, he managed a number of corporate programs and initiatives including running regional training workshops, co-founding the Sonic Dealer Academy program and creating Sonic University, and implementing a set of technology-based tools for dealer showrooms. Prior to joining Sonic Automotive, Mr. Curry spent 21 years in the retail sector, where he held positions from sales to general manager/partner of multiple dealerships. Mr. Curry recently rewrote the Pre-Owned Training Program for NCM Associates and was a regular featured writer for Wards Dealer Business magazine.
A graduate of Jacksonville State University, Mr. Curry holds a bachelor's of science with special honors in and has taken graduate courses in business administration from LaGrange College.
Gary Edelstein
Vice President - Chief Information Officer Gary Edelstein leads the OPENLANE Technology Operations, Data Services, ERP Services and Technical Project Management teams and serves as the company's chief information officer (CIO). Prior to Onlane's merger with ATC, Gary was the Vice President of Technology at Onlane, having joined the founding team during the company's pre-development phase in 1999. At Onlane, Gary drove all aspects of technology infrastructure, information architecture, IT effectiveness and IT governance, including the development of the company's industry-leading, web-based remarketing platform.
Gary started his career in Ernst and Young's Management Consulting Services graduate program in South Africa, working on client implementations requiring business process innovation, technology enablement and software package-enabled re-engineering. Thereafter, Gary moved to London, England where he consulted as an independent, senior IT Business Analyst to high-growth companies in the newly deregulated European telecommunications industry. After moving to Canada in 1999, Gary consulted on enterprise-wide SAP software implementations in mid-market companies with Optimum Software Solutions (now IDS Scheer) before joining Onlane.
Gary holds a Bachelor of Business Sciences majoring in Information Systems from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. He obtained his Information Systems Honors with distinction, graduating first in his class.
Andrew Iorgulescu
Vice President - Business Development Andrew Iorgulescu has more than ten years of experience in the automotive, financial and Internet markets. Andrew is a co-founder of ATC and has managed business development for the company throughout his tenure. Prior to OPENLANE, Andrew served as director of e-commerce market development for Infoseek, heading up GO Network's first e-commerce initiative geared toward large e-retailers. Andrew was director of the Used Car Cyberstore and Dealer Real Time (DRT) at Autobytel.com Inc., spearheading the redesign and management of the online automotive dealer's pre-owned car programs.
Prior to Autobytel, Andrew managed several e-commerce business initiatives for GE Capital Auto Financial Services, and has worked internationally for CBI Industries Inc., in Madrid, Spain, and Baker and McKenzie, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Andrew earned an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and dual bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Spanish from Knox College in Galesburg, Ill.
Nagi Palle
Vice President of Analytics Nagi Palle, Ph.D, OPENLANE's Vice President of Analytics, has over 15 years of industry experience in automotive, management consulting, engineering and finance. He is responsible for increasing the company's overall sell rate, assisting customers to define online remarketing metrics, optimizing their channel performance and market pricing. He is responsible for driving internal analytics for OPENLANE's full-service online marketplace. He leads the analytics team in providing market-pricing guidance to both the company's internal sales organization and to automotive dealers in order to help drive OPENLANE's industry-leading online auction.
Dr. Palle was most recently an Executive Partner in Accenture's supply chain and automotive practices, where he was primarily responsible for leading global transformation programs for OEMs and suppliers worldwide. Prior to that, he served as a principal at A.T. Kearney, overseeing the launch of its Mumbai (India) office in 2004. Dr. Palle was also the former finance and strategy director at iMotors, a value-added reseller of pre-owned vehicles, where he was responsible for used car pricing and economics, financial modeling and operations, as well as the strategies for the company's B-to-B and B-to-C businesses. He has also held management and technical positions at Visteon Corporation and Ford Motor Company.
Nagi Palle holds an MBA from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. In addition, he holds a Master's of Science in Applied Mechanics from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo., and a Bachelor's of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India.
Warren Schewitz
Vice President - Strategic Development Warren Schewitz is the Vice President of Strategic Development at OPENLANE. In this role, he is responsible for identifying appropriate opportunities that support OPENLANE's strategic priorities, evaluating the benefits and working with all cross-functional areas of the company to execute on the initiatives. Having joined Onlane at its infancy, Warren has been instrumental in the business analysis, set up and day to day running of the business.
Prior to joining Onlane, Warren was a member of the M&A Group at RBC Dominion Securities, Canada's largest Investment Bank. Here he focused on acquisitions, divestitures and restructuring assignments in the retail and resource sectors. Warren immigrated to Toronto from South Africa in 1997, having previously worked in the Equities Division of Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank.
Warren holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Postgraduate Honors in Finance from the University of Natal in South Africa.
Chuck Tapp
Vice President of Institutional Sales As vice president of institutional sales, Chuck Tapp is responsible for OPENLANE's consignor business development and program management.
Prior to joining OPENLANE, Mr. Tapp was executive vice president of sales and marketing for Adesa, Inc., where he managed all of the company's corporate sales, marketing and advertising functions, including branding and strategic product development. Mr. Tapp also served as the first vice president for lease end consulting and asset remarketing at Banc One Credit Company, overseeing remarketing of over 150,000 used vehicles annually and managing the strategic planning and implementation for the company's bank division. Prior to that, he was president of SourceOne/PrimeSource, LLC, where he was responsible for managing the East Coast wholesale sales operation ranging from Connecticut to Florida. Mr. Tapp has held key automotive industry and auction-related positions as the director of product sourcing at Driver's Mart Worldwide, Inc., vice president sales operations at Greater Auction Group, Inc., and national director-fleet operations at Alamo Rent A Car, Inc.
Mr. Tapp holds an MBA from Florida Atlantic University and a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University, where he majored in business administration.
Jonathan Varkul
Vice President - Operations Jonathan Varkul is Vice President of Operations at OPENLANE. In this position, Jonathan ensures that the company's operating and accounting systems are effective, efficient, reliable and scaleable to meet corporate growth objectives. Jonathan joined Onlane in 2001 and had overall responsibility for the development and management of all the operational processes needed for the smooth execution of the business.
Prior to joining Onlane, Jonathan was Director of Consulting at Optimum Software (now IDS-Scheer). Jonathan previously headed Business Development for Financial Models, a service provider to the money management industry, and was an Auditor with Ernst & Young.
Jonathan was born in Cape Town, South Africa and immigrated to Canada in 1987. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and in 1993 was admitted to the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) as a Chartered Accountant.
